Revolutionary new stuff just out from Microsoft called MatterGen What is it? It’s a generative AI tool that fundamentally changes how we discover and create new materials. You know, the basic building blocks for all our "stuff."
Why is this a big deal? Well up until now creating new materials was excruciatingly slow, trial and error, a needle in a haystack kind of thing.
But now, well think of it this way, it’s like ChatGPT but for materials design. MatterGen will generate material blueprints from your prompts, tailored to your specific needs.
I’m sure there’s more to it than that but this theoretically unlocks a whole new world of materials we’ve never had access to before. The list of materials is pretty darn impressive, for example:
