How to Discover Your Passions
The dictionary defines passion as "having a keen enthusiasm or intense desire for something". The description includes words as zealous, obsessive, fanatical, and fervent. To identify your passions, try the following exercise. Grab a piece of paper and a pen, go to a quiet place, and jot down anything that comes to mind when you ask yourself, "What am I supposed to do with my life?"Write your answers as if you were brainstorming – note anything that comes to mind, without any judgment.Give yourself a full 15 – 20 minutes for generating ideas even if you will be under the impression you consumed all your thoughts in the first 10.Then, with an open heart, re-read your list and see which notes give you a shiver, or any other strong feeling for that matter. Those items come with a strong message from your unconscious and say a lot about your desires, because when you're truly passionate about something, you feel it.In most cases, the answers won't surprise you, but will give you a better understanding of what's really driving you. You will have a sense of meaning and a better understanding of what you need to do."Put life into your purpose and purpose in your life"Another way to discover your passions is by taking the Passions Assessment. We Spend Most of our Lives Working
We take on extracurricular activities, we try volunteering, internships or other related experiences. It's safe to say we roughly start working between 16 and 20 years of age and, most probably, stop around 65,
depending on retirementregulations. Therefore, enjoying these 40 years (even more for some of us) of our lives becomes essential to our well-being and fulfillment. The moment I realized what I'll be doing for the largest part of my life, I also figured out that if I wanted to stay healthy, enthusiastic, and energized, I had to surround myself with positive, passionate people. Now, when I hire somebody, the look in their eyes is far more important than their current experience. When people talk about their passion, you see it in their eyes. That's why talking with people is so important. You can read an experience summary on somebody's CV, but to 'read' what their passion is you should listen, talk, and watch their eyes. You can tell if a person is really passionate about something by watching their eyes. If their eyeballs are sweating, you know you have hit on one of their passions.Related:
Stop Trying to Fit In. You Were Born To Stand Out!Passionate people bring great energy and enthusiasm into any organization. Of course, experience is important and should be considered a plus, but it's overrated due to the fact that real experience is the result of somebody who is unbelievably passionate about everything they do. Passion will always drive continual improvement. Passionate people learn up to 10 times faster than people who're not.Passion is the desire to keep seeking knowledge and learning new skills and ways of thinking.Passion does not mean perfection by any means. Passion is simply the desire to keep seeking, learning, and growing. It is what makes people forget how much time they have spent working on a project. They rarely know the difference between work and play. It's the reason I can't tell you how many hours a week I work. Half the time I'm not sure if I'm working or playing.
Aptitude determines your ability to KNOW. Aspiration determines where you hope to GO. Motivation determines if you actually get up and GO. Attitude determines how far you believe you can GO.But passion determines what you desire to accomplish and whether or not you continue to GROW and improve your skills in that area!
How to Revive Your Passion
If you find yourself lacking energy and motivation and you want to find your lost passion, try these four steps:
Rest. Rest facilitates healing. Exercise. Exercise produces energy. Tired people become cowards who feel little passion. When you get enough sleep, your cognitive abilities are revived, and motivation returns to your life. Visualization. Close your eyes and visualize your passions and their positive outcomes. Disconnect. You need time away from your phone, and time away from responding to everyone else so that you can dream again. Part of the reason we lose passion is that, in all the busyness, we lose sight of our purpose. Ignite Your Passions
Set up triggers that remind you of the things you should be excited or intentional about. Triggers can be reminders on your phone or mirror, motivating music and videos, and affirmations that you state at certain times that bring you a feeling of aliveness and gratitude.Celebration. When you achieve something, celebrate it! Take the time to write it in your journal and share it with others. There are times you need to slow down and appreciate yourself. Most times we forget to celebrate our wins, we go from one thing to another, which flat-lines their emotional energy.
