Time is one of the leader’s most precious resources, but distractions and activity traps are all around us. In today’s fast-paced world, we must continuously come back to the basic leadership question: Am I allocating enough time to the right things—my Top 20% responsibilities—today and every day? Daily focus on your Top 20% will virtually assure that you will achieve your long-range goals. In fact, you should program your Top 20% into your subconscious so that an internal alarm goes off whenever you lose focus or get off track.
To be a successful coach, your Top 20% should always be formally incorporated into your daily planning and scheduling. Remember to take time each evening to pre-plan next day, and be sure to schedule a majority of your time around your Top 20% Responsibilities.
