You Can’t Achieve Excellence… …Unless you have standards by which to measure it.
Is “Excellence” a teacher staying late to help a struggling student or purchasing classroom supplies out of her own pocket? An emergency hospital manager, reducing average patient waiting time a few seconds with efficient planning? Increased sales and ROI? Is it creating a positive work culture within your organization?
Excellence needs a scale.
Expectations must be met to earn the title of “Excellent.” And those expectations and standards are set by you, your customers, the industry you work in, and societal norms.I view excellence as simply maximizing potential and increasing the opportunities to achieve positive outcomes for yourself and your organization, regardless of the final score. How do you measure excellence? How did you come up with the standards by which you measure it?
