On my last post, I spoke about the necessity to have a very clear picture, for what you to achieve by December 31, 2021—a vision for your business for next year.
Then Thanksgiving came along, and I’ve dialed in with a number of advisors who still haven’t built this picture of what they want to achieve next year. And so I’m going to keep emphasizing it to you. It’s vitally important to have a clear picture for what you want to achieve next year.
Over Thanksgiving, my family and I have a tradition—we do a jigsaw puzzle. This Thanksgiving, we had a jigsaw puzzle of National Park patches. It’s a 2000 piece puzzle. The very first thing we did was tip out the bag of pieces and then immediately look back at this picture. What were we going to create? What was the final outcome going to look like? Just how beautiful was this end production going to be? We used that to get excited about what we were going to create. “This is what it’s going to look like!”
You need to do the same as advisors for 2021. You need to have a clear picture of what you want to achieve so when you look at that picture—when you look at that description of what you’re building—you get excited about the end product (just as we did about what we were going to create).
So, because you need to begin 2021 with a clear picture, I’m going to provide you with resources to do that. On December 17th, at Ash Brokerage, we’re going to have a [free] webinar that’s going to be all about planning for 2021. We’ll have resources available for you to download, to go through that webinar with us, and leave equipped to do effective and helpful planning for you and your business. If you email me now at Paul.Kingsman@AshBrokerage.com and “2021 Planning” in the subject line, I will send you these resources for you to look at now.
So remember, when you’re thinking about planning for 2021:
- Set aside several half days to build out this picture. Don’t try to do it in a full day or think you’re going to devote four full days to it. It’s taxing. There’s energy that goes into this planning, and so I encourage you to set aside several half days to formulating this picture.
- Get away from your regular workspace. Get out of your office. Go somewhere where it’s going to be quiet. Go somewhere majestic where your imagination can run wild. Go to a place that really inspires you.
- Build a mental picture of what you want to achieve by December 31, 2021. What’s going to excite you? What’s going to have you finishing off next year knowing that you have not only given everything you could to building your business, but you’ve succeeded and achieved your wildest dreams.
I look forward to bringing you another Distraction-Proof Advisor Idea next week.
