Being A Team Player Will Get You Further In Life
When you are a team player people take notice to how you carry yourself and you will get so much further in life by being a team player. It’s not always easy being a team player and in fact it’s usually harder. Life will put you in situations where you can either crumble under the pressure or rise to the occasion. Which one will you choose? If you have looked for a job lately you will have noticed that almost all job descriptions will say that they want a team player. Having this quality about yourself will show employers that you are willing to do whatever it takes complete the any task you are given. You may have to step back and let someone else take the credit in order to keep the peace but in the long run your sacrifice will not go unrewarded. Keeping your application on file with a potential employer where you listed being a team player as one of your best qualities is a good idea. Let’s look at some key things you can do in the workplace and in your family life to be the perfect team player.
Do the Things That Nobody Else Will Do
Sometimes we will let our pride get in the way of our happiness or success and in times like these we have to remind ourselves that we are never better than anyone else and no job is beneath us. Having a humble attitude will help us keep everything in perspective and will help us do the things that nobody else will do. For example, if you are working on a project at work and there are several things that need to be done in order to complete the project but no one else on the team wants to do them, this would be a good opportunity to step up, take the initiative and just do it . It may be a medial task or even something that has a little bit of a gross factor to it but jumping in there and getting it done will show that you are a team player. This could potentially get the attention of your boss and could lead to a promotion in status within the company or a promotion in pay.
Going the Extra Mile
It’s easy to just do what is asked of us or what is required but a true team player will go the extra mile to achieve success. This could mean staying up late and helping around the house when everyone else is asleep or it could mean that you stay late at work to get a project done when everyone else has already gone home. Your efforts may not pay off right away and they may even go unnoticed for a period of time but, if you just keep doing it whenever you see a need, you will soon see your reward.

Have you ever been around someone who complains about anything and everything? People will not want to be around and they surely will not want to work with you if you are a complainer. Keeping a positive attitude when you are doing something that you don’t like to do will help you to not be a complainer. A good rule of thumb is, if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all. This is one of the hardest things to master for most people but keeping your mouth shut and not saying anything will often keep you out of trouble. When you talk too much you tend to say things that will make you look stupid in front of others and over talking is very annoying to some people. You can practice by trying to go a whole day at work and not commenting on your co-workers conversations.
