Some advisors think doing the same thing over and over and over again is boring or makes them irrelevant. Actually, it is THE way to build a great business.
Apparently great! The people at Taddei Ludwig and Associates are celebrating their thirtieth year in business. This is a big shout out and congratulations to them as a team. They’ve done a phenomenal job. How have they done it? The continually have done the basics well. And I know from knowing them personally, they’re going to continue to do that. I was privileged to be a part of that team from 2012 to 2016. We watched our assets double, and since then, they’ve gone over the $300 million mark by just adhering to the basics. They listen to what people want. They set down plans that they know are going to work. They help people and communicate with them constantly. Look, in an age of disruption, so to speak, and hearing that the industry norms are getting thrown out every month or so, and you’ve got to reinvent yourself as a way to stay relevant – I only agree with that so much. What you’ve really got to do to remain relevant to people is listen to them, know how to help, and deliver a phenomenal process. That’s never going to change.
The people at Taddei, Ludwig and Associates do that all the time; they do it constantly. I just posted a video on LinkedIn with Al Pacino doing an interview about repetition and how much work goes into delivering the lines perfectly. It takes a long time, a lot of takes, so to speak, before those lines are delivered exactly how they’re meant to be, exactly in a way that just evokes passion from within. Go back on my LinkedIn thread and listen to that video; it’s fascinating. Get interested in your process. Understand you’ve got to build out steps along the way that make sense, that are logical, that are going to build your business, and enjoy enacting them. Enjoy following them. Yes, you’re going to tweak and fine tune these steps over time , but understand that the more you fall in love with this process, the more conviction it’s going to build inside of you, and the more confidently you’re going to speak about how it is you help people. Take pride in that. Don’t just be willing to read every other article that you see out there and think you’ve got to start from scratch. The chances are you’re doing things now phenomenally well. Take a look at what those items and steps are. Understand you need to keep them [and] how bolstering them even more strongly will only help you further. Go about doing that, and keep going confidently. This is how you build a business that lasts for over thirty years.I look forward to seeing what the next thirty years brings Taddei, Ludwig and Associates. And if you do exactly what I’ve just mentioned, and do the same things they’ve done, you can expect to have a phenonmenal thirty years as well.I look forward to bringing you another Distraction-Proof Advisor Idea next week.
