First Humanoid Robot CEO
The headline of this groundbreaking news of the first humanoid robot claims that Tang Yu is about to make fairer decisions for employees as CEO. Imagine that!?!?
Theo Priestley informed us in 2017 that “once upon a time in the future you will have to choose between a human and Artificial Intelligent (AI) to lead a country.” In his TED Talk, Theo asks us to consider the impact of a super intelligence for the definition of our own humanity.
Fellow futurist Ross Dawson writes about the 12 top companies in the vanguard of the rise of humanoid robots and reminds us that our longstanding fascination with humanoid robots is finally coming to fruition.
And, it looks like China-based mobile game company NetDragon Websoft, six years after Theo’s prediction, appointed Tang Yu, an AI-supported virtual human being as the Rotating CEO of its flagship subsidiary.
Humanoid Robot CEO is Here
The company’s press release shares that “The appointment is a move to pioneer the use of AI to transform corporate management and leapfrog operational efficiency to a new level.
This appointment highlights the Company’s “AI + management” strategy and represents a major milestone of the Company towards being a “Metaverse organization.” Tang Yu will streamline process flow, enhance quality of work tasks, and improve speed of execution. She will also serve as a real-time data hub and analytical tool to support rational decision-making in daily operations, as well as to enable a more effective risk management system. In addition, Tang Yu is expected to play a critical role in the development of talent and ensuring a fair and efficient workplace for all employees.
Dr. Dejian Liu, Chairman of NetDragon, commented, “We believe AI is the future of corporate management, and our appointment of Ms. Tang Yu represents our commitment to truly embrace the use of AI to transform the way we operate our business, and ultimately drive our future strategic growth.
Looking forward, we will continue to expand on our algorithms behind Tang Yu to build an open, interactive and highly transparent management model. We plan to gradually transform to a metaverse-based working community, which will enable us to attract a much broader base of talents worldwide and put us in a position to achieve bigger goals.”
Technology and Humanity
A blog by Elon Musk was published in China recently in which he writes, “As technology accelerates, it may one day surpass human understanding and control. Some are optimistic and some are pessimistic. But I believe that as long as we are not complacent and always maintain a sense of urgency, the future of humanity will be bright, driven by the power of technology. It is like a self-fulfilling prophecy: if humans want to make the future good, they should take action to make it good.“
When it comes to humanoid robots, he shares, “We plan to launch the first prototype of a humanoid robot this year and focus on improving the intelligence of that robot and solving the problem of large-scale production. Thereafter, humanoid robots’ usefulness will increase yearly as production scales up and costs fall. In the future, a home robot may be cheaper than a car. Perhaps in less than a decade, people will be able to buy a robot for their parents as a birthday gift.
It is foreseeable that with the power of robots, we will create an era of extreme abundance of goods and services, where everyone can live a life of abundance. Perhaps the only scarcity that will exist in the future is for us to create ourselves as humans.”
Some Brief Thoughts (Maybe More Questions …)
Some human being on this planet of ours is the inventor of technology. And, innovation comes from our imagination when we envision possibilities and opportunities. Technology is not evil or to be feared. It’s all a question of how we perceive these “advancements” and how we react and integrate them into our lives.
The future is here and it’s not happening to us. We are creating it. So,
- Can we focus on what we want the role of AI to be in supporting our humanity and not just more profits and greater efficiency?
- Why would we fear a world filled with AI when we share a world with over eight billion people?
- Has the role of the CEO in the future changing based on the above mechanical description? What will happen if we continue to lead with structure instead of consciousness? Can we step into our power and build the foundation now for the next generation?
- Can we put our human intelligence into practice and create life-supporting systems and structures?
- When will we start involving kids in the architecture of our future?
- Can we remember how powerful we are as creators and focus on ensuring we birth healthy systems for a healthy planet?
We are the ones we have been waiting for. There is no one else apart from each of us to tap into our humanity.
