With each passing day, the world as we know it slowly evolves, but there are always components that evolve faster than others. Often times, this is due to the natural instinct for many of us who are comfortable with how things have been to want to keep them the same, and a reluctance to pay attention to what’s taking place right before our eyes. Eventually the imbalance becomes so great that it’s undeniable.
Typically, this leads to a lot of complainers coming out of the woodwork (especially on social media), but you’ll also find a select few who alternatively decide to look deeper, and instead of complaining about it, they decide to solve the problem and seize the opportunity that it has created.
Marguerita Cheng, CEO of Blue Ocean Global Wealth , did just that and continues to enjoy more than just the intellectually stimulating component of financial planning, but also the emotionally gratifying reward of seeing the positive impact of her work and the growth of her business as a result.
Referred to as “FPG – the Financial Planning Goddess,” and calling herself “ABC – American-born Chinese,” she was the oldest child in her family and credits her father for inspiring her to pursue financial planning as he always made sure that she knew, even at a young age, what to do for the family if anything ever happened to him. Rita also shares with us many stories about her progress in what most of us would view as great challenges, but ultimately were great opportunities.
Learn how she combined her passion surrounding women & money, kids & money, and increasing diversity in her profession to educate diverse multicultural individuals on the benefits of a career in financial planning, mentor African American Women to sit for the CFP Certification Exam, become a CFP Board Ambassador, author the book “ Wealth Management Rules: 12 Tips to Help You Harness Your Financial Know-How “, and make the bold move to go on her own as an independent financial planner and ultimately CEO of her own global firm.
